Principal
Silda Wall Spitzer, Principal, joined NewWorld in January 2012. Before NewWorld, she was a Managing Director at Metropolitan Capital Advisors, an investment firm focusing on value opportunities, where she led strategic and business development.
Prior to Metropolitan Capital, Ms. Wall Spitzer served as First Lady of New York State. In that role, she worked to support the Administration’s goal of reducing fossil energy consumption 15% by 2015 with her initiatives promoting green buildings, alternative energy, and local food sources. Her I LIVE NY program engaged constituents to create livable communities and sustainable jobs.
Ms. Wall Spitzer brings substantial legal skills to NewWorld, having practiced M&A and corporate finance law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meager and Flom and later at Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., where she structured and negotiated complex transactions.
In 1996, Ms. Wall Spitzer founded Children for Children, a not-for-profit organization that fosters community involvement and social responsibility in young people. As Executive Director, she helped build Children for Children into an innovative enterprise engaging more than 1 million children. In 2008, she led a strategic combination to make it the youth service arm of generationOn, a national service leader.
Ms. Wall Spitzer is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Economic Club of New York, the New York State Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association.
Ms. Wall Spitzer is Vice Chair of the Urban Green Council, the New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which advances sustainability in the urban built environment.
Ms. Wall Spitzer graduated summa cum laude from Meredith College with a BA in English and History and holds a JD from Harvard Law School.
