Lou Schick is a Founding Principal of the Firm. Before co-founding NewWorld, he was a Managing Director at Ritchie Capital focusing on private equity investments in cleantech companies. Prior to Ritchie, Mr. Schick managed a military product line for MTI micro.

Previously, Mr. Schick was a senior scientist at GE Global Research where he created and managed the Disruptive Energy Technology Unit. This unit evaluated the energy landscape and identified key opportunities and threats for GE, including facilitating GE’s entry into solar, wind and gas-fired reciprocating engines. He also led GE’s Solid Oxide Fuel Cell program and worked in gas turbine services. Mr. Schick served as Six Sigma Master Blackbelt for GE Energy Systems.

Mr. Schick has broad experience in evaluating and commercializing energy technologies, including responsibility for acquisition diligence, project management, marketing and customer requirements, for example:

  • Helped launch GE’s Advanced Technology Program in solar power
  • Created product specifications and launched and managed 100 person team for GE’s Solid Oxide Fuel Cell business
  • Carried out technical diligence on multiple fuel cell companies
  • Evaluated and ranked Gen III and Gen IV nuclear power cycles for GE

Lou Schick received a BS in Physics cum laude from Union College and an MS in physics from Cornell University and holds technology patents in gas turbine parts, vehicle telematics, and other fields
