Bradley Abelow is a Founding Partner of the Firm. Before co-founding NewWorld, he was Chief of Staff to Jon Corzine, Governor of the State of New Jersey. Prior to that he served as Treasurer of New Jersey.
Before New Jersey State Government, Mr. Abelow was a Partner and Managing Director of The Goldman Sachs Group where he held a variety of senior leadership positions. Mr. Abelow managed Goldman’s Operations Division which was responsible for the global processing and corporate services functions of the firm. In 2005, he led the effort to create an Environmental Policy Framework for Goldman Sachs. That framework resulted in a dedicated effort on the part of Goldman to invest in environmental opportunities including direct investments, trading of Carbon Credits under the EU ETS, increased focus from Investment Research on the impacts of climate change on covered companies and industries, and the application of environmental criteria to business selection. The framework also led to the creation of the Goldman Sachs Center for Environmental Markets.
Earlier, Mr. Abelow was responsible for Goldman Sachs Operations, Technology, Risk and Finance functions in Asia, based in Hong Kong. At Goldman, he was a member of the Firm’s Risk, Partnership, Compensation, Managing Director Training and Space Committees. Mr. Abelow joined Goldman Sachs in 1989 in the Investment Banking Division’s Corporate Finance Department where he participated in numerous financing and mergers and acquisitions transactions, including the sale of the Great Northern Nekoosa Corporation to Georgia Pacific, the spin-off and Initial Public Offering of Allstate Insurance, and a variety of financial advisory and financing assignments for Wal*Mart.
Mr. Abelow is Chairman of the EPA’s Environmental Finance Advisory Board.
Bradley Abelow graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Political Science and holds a Masters in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management
