Bill Hallisey is a Founding Partner of the Firm. Before co-founding NewWorld, he was a Managing Director at GSC Group and a senior professional in the recovery area, focusing on deal origination and SPAC investments. Mr. Hallisey sourced transactions in energy, power generation, infrastructure, renewable fuels, cleantech, waste management, and agriculture.

Prior to GSC, Mr. Hallisey managed private equity investments for Berggruen Holdings, Inc. During his tenure, Berggruen invested in the energy, business services, technology and manufacturing sectors.

Previously, Mr. Hallisey was a senior executive in the investment banking and asset management areas of ING, with responsibility for managing private equity and institutional capital. Earlier, he originated and executed transactions for GE Capital and managed investments for Xerox Financial Services.

Mr. Hallisey has broad experience in evaluating and executing environmental investments, including responsibility for financial, management and regulatory matters—for example:

  • Negotiated purchase of $1bn+ national generating company (CA and MS based CCGT facilities)
  • Developed logistics, construction and financing plans for a major Ethanol plant, including negotiating tax and financial incentives with the State authorities
  • Submitted term sheet on second generation cellulosic ethanol opportunities (nonfood crops/enzymes)
  • Proposed purchase of $1.5 billion international energy and commodity storage/trading/distribution platform
  • Bid $1.0 billion for private agricultural co-op and grain processing/storage facilities
  • Negotiated term sheets for investment in sugar cane ethanol production in Brazil, Peru and Cambodia
  • Negotiated purchase of 18,000 hectares of Brazilian farmland
  • Developed and negotiated proposed purchase of wind energy operations from diversifed European based enviromental firm
  • Negotiated investment in European Climate Exchange and potential sale of credits

Bill Hallisey graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Economics and Political Science and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
